Enable Java on the Motorola v710 by installing the Telus Mobility OS
This tutorial is meant to be used with the Motorola v710 with service providers who do not load Java onto their operating system (eg. Verizon). This tutorial requires PST 7.11, which can be found on the tutorial Transfering Files Using Mobile Phone Tools (MPT) on the Motorola v710
- Connect the phone, open up the PST directory and open MultFlashFlex.exe
- Flash the phone with “07.TELUS_1X_1.0F.2P_phone.shx” from this file
- Flex the phone with “03.v710_telus_refresh_0301.hs” from the same file (in the same folder)
- Disconnect and reboot the phone. Upon reboot, it will show the Verizon aGPS graphic.
- Install Bitpim, connect the phone, and go to the “Filesystem” tab
- NOTE: The phone may not connect to bitpim. If that is the case, download p2kman and find the driver called usbser.sys. Search all files and folders on your system for that file, and replace each one with the one from that file
- Open the filesystem on the phone, navigate into the brew folder, then right click on the appdb folder and do a “Restore.” Point it to appdb.zip (it’ll unzip the file into that folder, which has a bunch of games and stuff on it)
- Finally, you have to reset the phone to use the Verizon network instead of Telus. Do this by typing ##DATA on your phone. The password should be 6 0’s. Select “1XRTT Data” and hit “Change.” Edit the User Name to be [your mobile #]@vzw3g.com, and change the password to vzw. NOTE: Everytime you reboot your phone, you will have to change that information.
After all that, if you press the menu button, there should be an option entitled “Do More” (it won’t have an icon). Go to Applications and in the Tools folder will be all the games that were in the zip file you used to restore. The games it contains are as follows:
- Minigolf
- Beach Volleyball
- Stuntman
- Block Buster
- Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
- Rayman
- Micro Machines
- Battleground
- Asteroid Zone
- Puzzle Bobble
- Alpha Wing
- Brick Ranger
- Euro 2004
- Pitfall Jungle
If you don’t have sufficient memory to load all of these games onto your phone, you can go with this smaller version which just contains the first two games from the list.
